Introduction of unmanned aerial vehicle for plant protection

  As green agriculture, organic agriculture, precise agriculture and digital agriculture are emerging around the world, plant protection technology innovation is urgently needed for research and development in relation to green plant protection, organic plant protection, precise plant protection, digital plant protection and aviation plant protection. And aviation plant protection is an increasingly prosperous emerging industry. Aviation plant protection, also called aerial plant protection, flight plant protection or aircraft plant protection, is an operation that using aircrafts to prevent and treat agricultural and forestry diseases, insects and weeds. There are around 120 million hectares of farming lands in China, and a great deal of agricultural plant protection operations are required every year, and around 100 thousand persons are poisoned by pesticides every year, with a fatality rate of c. 20%.There are no official statistics of casualties resulting from pesticide residuals and pollutions, but the figure is supposed to be huge.

   However, the appearance of multi-rotor UAV brings good news to the agricultural plant protection in China! UAVs are efficient, economical, versatile, safe, intelligent, convenient and low cost, they can be widely used in pesticide prevention and control for crops such as wheat, paddy rice, fruit trees and cotton as well as in fertilization and monitoring, generating significant social and economic benefits! Undoubtedly, they will replace the traditional way of spraying manually and will be quickly adopted and become popular in China!

 

 

一、农用植保无人机的应用优势

1、保障

 

植保无人机喷洒飞行速度为 5m/s,喷洒装置宽度为 3-4m,作业宽度为 4-8m(依飞行高度定),

 

并且能够与农作物的距离较低保持在 1-2m 的固定高度,规模作业能达到每天 80-100 亩,其

 

效率要比常规喷洒至少高 20 倍。远距离遥控操作,限度的减少了工作人员接触农药的

 

时间,从而可以保证工作人员的生命保障。

3. High coverage density and good prevention and control effects

 

The higher the coverage density of spraying pesticide solutions per unit area is, the better the prevention and control effects are. According to pesticide solution droplet drift experiments, UAVs for plant protection has an advantage in pesticide drift, because UAVs operate at low heights, their spiral wings form aerosol flows when pesticide droplets are sprayed, which directly increase penetration of the droplets against crops and reduce drift of pesticides, and deposit and coverage of pesticide solutions are better than conventional operations. In addition to better prevention and control effects than conventional operations, UAVs can prevent pollution of pesticides to soils.

 

4、节水节药成本低

5. Good economic benefits

 

China’s agriculture is currently in transition from small-scale production to agriculture industrialization, and scale operation of agriculture is just started. While UAVs for plant protection are suitable for small and medium area operations, featuring low cost, high efficiency and good reliability, they are efficient products in the transitional period and satisfy the market demands in China. According to surveys, UAVs can save costs of around RMB 200,000 per month for farmers, and compared with traditional agricultural machines, they can save pesticide usage by around 30-50% per 0.067 hectare and save water by around 90%.It is also reported that production of wheat for which UAVs are used increases by 10.1% per 0.067 hectare. Therefore, UAVs are the best choice for farmers to lower costs, reduce pesticide residual and increase production.
